PRESS RELEASE
Three
term Representative Grant Burgoyne has formally announced his candidacy for the
District 16 State Senate seat currently held by Senator Les Bock. Earlier this year, Senator Bock announced
that this would be his last term and that he was supporting Representative
Burgoyne to replace him.
In
his announcement, Representative Burgoyne said "I have fought to adequately
fund education because it is the surest way to create good paying jobs, and a
sound economy for our families and community. I have also fought against
one party pay to play politics which damages middle class families and forces
them to pay an unfair portion of the cost of government.
Boise Mayor David Bieter
congratulated Representative Burgoyne on his announcement, saying,
"Grant has built a solid reputation as a thoughtful, effective and
independent legislative leader. I look
forward to his joining the Idaho Senate."
Garden City Mayor John Evans
said "Grant is willing to listen, investigate and carefully consider the issues
that impact the citizens of Garden City and Boise, and I appreciate that.
Representative
Burgoynes record includes legislation promoting educational and economic
opportunity, protecting the disabled, elderly and other vulnerable citizens,
requiring governmental transparency and accountability, and protecting our
freedoms from government overreach.
District
16 includes Boises State Street corridor from 28th Street to
Glenwood Street, Boises Fairview and Mountain View Drive corridors from the
Orchard Street area to Maple Grove, and all of Garden City. The General
Election will be held on November 4, 2014.
